Key points for installation and operation of a complete set of iron manganese softening water equipment

1. The iron (manganese) filter should be placed on a horizontal concrete foundation, and the foundation should be stable to prevent uneven settlement.

2. Before filling the filter material, it should be carefully screened according to the requirements, and then filled layer by layer from bottom to top, from large to small.

3. After the filter material is filled, backwashing should be carried out in a timely manner, with water flowing from bottom to top. Unqualified filter material sand powder and mud water should be washed away in a timely manner until the effluent clarifies before formal operation.

4. When using quartz sand filter material, the filter should initially operate at a low filtration rate, and gradually increase the filtration rate after the formation of the oxide film.

5. The backwashing cycle is generally determined based on the water quality and pressure after treatment. When the difference between the inlet and outlet water pressure gauges reaches the allowable head loss value of the equipment, backwashing should be carried out immediately. When the iron (manganese) content in the filtered water exceeds the specified value, backwashing should be carried out immediately.

6. The backwash intensity is generally around 15L/S * m2, and the backwash duration is generally 5-7 minutes.

7. The filter material of the iron (manganese) removal filter should be sanded and sorted every year, and the large pieces that are bonded together should be crushed. The thickness of the filter layer should be observed. If any thinning of the filter layer is found, it should be replenished in a timely manner.
